Q: What does your job involve?
A: I am the technical care support here at Cramond – I’ve been working at the home for almost three years now. My job involves looking after the on-site IT equipment and the motion sensor safety systems. To do this, I liaise closely with the IT department. I also look after the Mobizio mobile App, which helps families keep in touch with their loved one. Another big part of my job is training staff so that they can use our systems, and on issues such as in-house moving and handling.
Q: How does your work improve the well-being of the residents at Cramond?
A: My work helps keep residents safe and independent. The sensor systems we put in place in their rooms, if required, alert us when a resident has had a fall or is in any type of trouble. They ensure that our residents receive help quickly, while allowing them to live as self-sufficiently as possible. The Mobizio system helps them keep in contact with their loved ones and I love helping the residents families to get the most out of the system.
Q: Tell us more about the Mobizio system?
A: We use a mobile app called Mobizio, and it can be accessed via the internet from all over the world. It can be downloaded on iOS or Android. The app. allows families to get a real-time update of their loved one’s treatment, to see how they are doing, and how they’ve been supported within their care.
Q: What motivates you?
A: What motivates me is that no two days are the same! I love liaising with all the different departments, and I love the fact that I get to meet all the new stuff. What’s more, I get to spend time with residents and their families and it is wonderful that I am able to make a positive difference to people’s days.
Q: Would you recommend Cramond Residence?
A: I think Cramond is a wonderful place for people to retire to. Everything is bespoke, and tailored to the needs and wishes of the residents.
Q: What do you do outside of work?
A: I like to keep fit, walk my dog, plan trips, go away on holiday and spend time with my family.
