Driving Support with the Flying Haggis Racing Team

23 April 2019

We are delighted to announce that our Edinburgh care home is sponsoring the Flying Haggis Racing Team this year.

The team is made up of five people who race on tracks across Scotland and the rest of the UK to raise funds and awareness for four Scottish charities, including two very close to our heart – Alzheimer Scotland and Age Scotland.

This weekend, they are taking part in a 24 hour race as part of the C1 24 Hour Challenge at Silverstone, England. The race is the UK’s largest race series, having started only 2 years ago. The team will be taking part with over 100 other cars on the starting grid and joining other teams from all around the world, including Portugal, Germany, Hong Kong and the USA.More information about the charities that the team support can be found below:

Alzheimer Scotland – Alzheimer Scotland provides a wide range of specialist services for people with dementia and their carers. They offer personalised support services, community activities, information and advice, at every stage of the dementia journey.

Age Scotland – Age Scotland is the national charity for older people. They work to improve the lives of everyone over the age of 50 so that they can love later life.

My Name’5 Doddie Foundation – My Name’5 Doddie Foundation work to raise funds to aid research into the causes of Motor Neuron Disease (MND) and investigate potential cures. They help to make grants to individuals suffering from MND, to enable them to live as fulfilled a life as possible.

Smiling Through – Smiling Through raise awareness of invisible disabilities and trying to make change with education on these disabilities and their effects.
