Look inside our Edinburgh care home

Our luxury care home in Edinburgh has been designed to an exceptional standard and promotes small community living and this blog introduces you to what you will find inside. 

Cramond Residence comprises nine distinct houses, all named after historical Edinburgh districts, and each is designed to reflect the history and characteristics of these areas through the mix of materials, colour, art and objects in the design.

Within each house there are eight or nine generous en-suite bedrooms, as well as a shared lounge and dining area and activity spaces, which create a real home-from-home feel.

Throughout the rest of the care home, there is a private cinema for watching the latest blockbusters or classic movies. You will also find a hairdressing and beauty salon and barbershop, and our Cramond Café to share a cup of tea and some of our home baking with friends and family.

The Residence also has a well-stocked library with a great selection of books; a sunny conservatory to enjoy all year round; function and dining rooms; and a doctors and visiting GP and health services room.

Outside the care home, our residents love taking a walk through our beautiful, landscaped garden, which is a peaceful place to walk, relax or read.

Interior design

When designing our home, we wanted to pick up on historical themes of the city to help create a sense of nostalgia.

One of our houses pays tribute to Ravelston, where golfing hats displayed on hat stands and check curtains pay homage to the classic attire worn at Ravelston Golf Club.

Those who like the great outdoors will love the quirky, pheasant wallpaper in Braid Hills House, reflecting the wildlife found in the area.

Meanwhile, admirers of the arts will appreciate the mixed gold frames and navy wall colour of Belford House – a nod to the National Gallery of Modern Art.

Further tributes to the capital can be found throughout, with bread tin accessories reflecting the old bakers and millers of Dean Village, and even a tribute to Greyfriars Bobby in the colour palette of Greyfriars House.
